As a child, Jannie Giles trained the family Hackney and Shetland ponies and learned many skills and techniques from working with them. Training and showing from an early age helped develop theories and special relationships that are essential to her training program today.
As a teenager, Jannie was a top-rate equitation rider and was instructed by the matriarch of Saddle Seat Equitation, the late Mrs. Helen Crabtree of Simpsonville, KY.
Her professional career has been well documented with Regional and National wins with American Saddlebreds, Friesians, Arabians, Half Arabians and National Show Horses. She was the first woman to win the National Show Horse Five-Gaited National Championship. She instructed a number of champion Saddle Seat Equitation riders to national titles as well.
Jannie is well respected in the American Saddlebred business for turning out top prospects as well as reinventing the careers of many older campaigners. She is probably best known for her ability to start and teach colts with TLC and a common sense approach learned from her many years of training horses and ponies.
Many years ago, Jannie became entranced with the magnificent Friesian horse. As luck would have it, the very first Friesian she owned turned from an average school type horse to a showring legend. Jannie and her star gelding, Robin u de Warren, dominated the showring from coast to coast. Together they enjoyed the incredible run of six undefeated seasons competing against World and National Champions from various breeds.
